2020 DOT Employment application updates now complete.
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has increased the minimum annual random controlled substance testing rate for commercial motor vehicle drivers, from 25 percent of the average number of driver positions to 50 percent, effective in the calendar year 2020. The minimum rate for random alcohol testing remains at 10 percent.
All TSS systems have had the appropriate verbiage changed to meet the legal requirements for this new threshold. As percentages change, you are required to disclose to all applicants what the ratios are on their application and in the drug and alcohol policy. If you are using the TSS application package, your legal requirements have been met for 2020. We will notify you when other changes are made to meet legal requirements.
